I love Christmas. Little known fact – I’m a Christmas baby. Yep, that’s right. Born on Christmas. I’m positive this is why Christmas means so much to me. The way my family always celebrated my birthday and the holiday, separately but with equal amounts of joy made this time of year extremely special.
When Andrew and I moved into our first apartment and got our own, albeit fake tree, my mom passed along some ornaments from her collection that she knew I always admired. She has since passed away and now these ornaments and all of my ornaments have become my most cherished possessions. Most people have a piece of jewelry, an item of clothing, photos or other obvious things as a symbol of those who have passed, but I have Christmas ornaments. This time of year is bittersweet, but perhaps it keeps me grounded, reminding us of the true meaning of Christmas. Now I’m never openly emotional or one for cliches like the “true meaning of Christmas,” but what better place than a blog to have a cathartic experience?
This Christmas, enjoy what you had. Enjoy what you have. And enjoy all the love and life you will continue to receive in the coming years.
Now go on and Occupy Christmas already!
(Yes, that’s “Chiller” font)!
Wishing you and yours the very merriest of Christmases.
XOXO
Megan and Andrew
